I got out the map and made decition that Keys was the new destination for me - but it turn out
quite good.
I begin the 200 miles trip down from Florida City to the Key West feeling not very well.
I'd built myself up thinking the Florida Hostel would be my first night of experiencing
real travel life. I'd turned tail at the first first hurdle and
I felt defeated. I couldn't help but think all i would gain from this trip would be a
large Mastercard balance and a peely tan.
I phoned Dad who cheered me up, I found a great deal on

I drove down to the Keys, reminding myself all the time how lucky I was, that I could be here.
The route through the Florida Keys is one of the most beautiful roads on the planet.

Officially titled US-1, you follow the mile markers starting at
140 counting down to mile maker 0 in Key West next to the Court house, behind the most famous pub -
Green Parrot.
In Key West I checked into the Blue Marlin hotel, the most expensive place yet
at $90. Unfortunately it was also the worst. Physically, room smelt
really horrible. There was only one way to go. Get so drunk that my nose will stop working.
So I prepared my self and start walking up the main Street - Duval street - towards Mallory Square
to watch the sunset celebration.
I parked myself on a bench and prepared to be moved - emotionally not physically.

The sunset did happen and it was one beautiful experience. Changing colours...little breeze...
unforgettable...

So I went back to the stinky Marlin and immediately feel asleep.

Slovak Karst

Yesterday we walked a path in a wild, nice national park in Slovakia, called Slovak Karst.
Build from limestone mountains on the borders with Hungary and 40 kilometers west from
second largest city of Slovakia - Kosice.
A wildly rushing river has eroded the mountain resulting in a canyon - Zadiel canyon.
The cliff walls rise steeply on either side /more than 1000 meters elevation/ and are not
without their danger, especially if you are climbing them, or walking along the edge.
Patrick, a young Slovakian guy we met, walked with us today and told us how one of his
friends decided to call his girlfriend using a phone. Only after they had climbed down
did they learn of his fall. This was only year ago. Patrick loves to hike here he said,
"It always makes me a very happy when I come here. This place have a special vibe."
Day was warm the early spring flowers were blooming and we had a geat time seeing
and photographing them. In fact, I was surprised at the number and variety of
wild flowers and plants that were already up and growing looking forward to the summer
season. Slovakia is pretty far north and its summers are short but intensive. To add
to this the canyon with its steep sides has sun at the bottom for rather short periods
of time each day so I suppose all plants in such an environment spring to life quickly
with the first hints of warmth. Inversion make this place unique. Cold loving flowers
are on the bottom of canyon - warm loving flowers 1 km higher!!!

The walk was not difficult. The trail is leading to the top of the pass.
I am not sure how far a person has to walk to find a road on the other side. We walked
several kilometers stopping for brunch at a picnic table beside a cottage. We had packed
sandwiches. At this point there are camping facilities and several cabins that
can be rented. One quite large cabin is owned by the local university in Kosice.

Story about the phone reminded me that I needed to call home. In Kosice internet cafe /on

ZILINA

I arrived to Zilina in the early afternoon and immediately headed towards the oldtown.
I must say, this city kind of nicely surprised me…it manages to integrate the old-word with cute modernity.
Right in the heart, I saw some of the coolest/swankiest bars and restaurants outside of New York city.

My mission was to slow my pace and just stroll the streets of old town. Zilina felt a bit sleepy, so my main source
of entertainment was a scavenger hunt for the famous city statutes and then, much more importantly,
the hunt for the perfect lunch and later dinner location. That was all I wanted, except find some net cafe and buy my

Traditional Slovakian cuisine, meaning, the national dish of Bryndzove halusky…a creamy curd

It felt really good to be out of the Euro-zone.

The night train back to Milan was for me big surprise. It might as well have been a condominium, equipped with
freshly-made beds, sink and vanity, and perfect breakfast service…it was exactly what I needed.

I arrived back in Milan at 14 p.m., but enough time for me to hop into a taxi and do not miss a minute of my lecture in
Modeling career. Yes!

After the few days in Zagreb we finaly moved to Prague, which meant back on the beloved autocar, but this time our
sentence it was only 12 hours- this thrilled me! Once in capital of Czech republic we had to change currency yet again
and try and figure out the prices and sings again...
I was a little worried when I saw and smelled inside of our hotel.
And fine it was - we lived in the luxury for two weeks days in a nice cozy appartment at no extra money.

We explored the town by subway and on foot the first day and took a walking tour the next day. My favorite parts was
eating more Goulash and (they really love to eat) potato dumplings.
One great surpirse was the falling of snow on the first night in the city. We all felt a romance and wished we
had a cute someone to cozy up to.The next morning we awoke to a white blanket of snow out our aprtment.
It suddenly became very cold - which resulted in my purchase of a flashy winter hat.
World War II left Prague slightly unscathed in comparison to the rest of central and western Europe. The city looks like
disney world (and felt like it too with all the crowds of tourists!!) with its colorful fairy-tale style architecture.
Did you know that The Czech republic has the highest beer consumption in the world?? You need to make a stop sign in a pub,
if you don't want to be completely wasted - NO MORE.
Well now we both do, and I can say that the beers there are VERY good, try one some time!
And of course, yours truly did a sampling of the desserts in the Czech Republic and the conclusive report is that the yummy
apple strudels are to die for...
One of my favorite memories is crossing the infamously beautiful 1000 years old Charles Bridge, with all its street vendors
Richard and I took a stroll through Wencelas Main Square where Mozart premeired his opera Don Giovanni.

We had beautiful time at opera in National Theatre. Aida was just simply flawless.

On Monday, October 16th, a group of five of us made a one day-trip to Kosice. Kosice is an easy day-trip from Vienna by train. The ride there is just over an six hours long, so really you could just go there for a couple of nights on the town if you wanted! As we heard that everything was cheap in comparison to Vienna, and found that the food certainly was one of the best bet. I can’t verify the other merchandise. First off, the exchange rate is incredible if you’re coming from Vienna to Kosice: 1 euro = 34 Sk’s. We weren’t, however, told that Monday is a poor day to go shopping in Kosice.

There were many restaurants open, small underground pubs and cafes - each with a different style of food. We had found our way to the tourist information shop, where the lady suggested we try a restaurant called “Nation Pub” if we were interested in traditional food for Bryndove Halusky a decent price. Thanks to my friend, David, I know the name of the dish I had is Bryndove
Halusky (without the accents). I would describe the dish as being comprised of noodles (something like gnocchi), a cheese sauce, sausage, and fried/smoked fat on top. The sausage was packed with seasonings, which was quite a contrast with the relatively bland cheesy-noodles it was on. I thought it was pretty good, but I’m not sure all of the members in my group would agree. My friend ordered a garlic soup, which came in a bread bowl and was packed with flavor, as well.

We explored the city center and found a tower from which we could get a bird’s eye view of the city. Elizabeth cathedral was a lovely sight. An organist was practicing while we were there, which gave the church a convivial feeling.

I would say that the Kosice theatre was my favorite thing that we visited. The Castle is probably the city’s most prominent landmark. It is located on a hill overlooking the city centre We didn’t actually go inside as it was later in the day and we just wanted to enjoy the view and fresh air. We enjoyed the sunset from the top of the hill and then made our way back into the city to find some supper.
